Killiam predoctoral Dalhousie University scholarships

This is an entrance scholarship open to both Canadian and international students. Students sending applications must be in thesis-based programs in sciences, humanities, engineering, and social sciences. Beneficiaries will receive $42,000 yearly for two years, including a relocation allowance worth $2500.

Harold A Robertson Scholarship in Parkinson’s research

This is an entrance or in-program award created to encourage students to research Parkinson’s disease. Students should focus on concerns, symptoms, and challenges associated with the disease. To qualify, you must be registered for graduate studies and must have a strong academic standing.

John and Lena Graham Commonwealth Bursary

This award was founded by John and Lena Graham in 1988 in honor of their 75th anniversary. Recipients must be citizens of Commonwealth countries other than Canada who need financial help in Nova Scotia.

Dr. Paul Anthony & Thelma Johnstone Bursary

This bursary is granted in honor of Dr. P. Anthony Johnstone, a former director of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. Eligible candidates are graduate students with a demonstrable passion for social justice and human rights. Students who excel at competitions will receive a minimum of $1000 and a copy of The Life and Thoughts of Tony Johnstone (Ed.) Reverend Trevor Phillips.

Eligibility criteria

  • Excellent academic performance and proof of financial need
  • Studying for a degree in Humanities or Social Sciences

  • University of Alberta scholarships

The University of Alberta scholarships are sponsored by the government and approved by Alberta Advanced Education. The University awards these scholarships in partnership with Alberta Student Aid.

At the moment, the university is offering the Jason Lang scholarship and Louise Mckinney scholarship. They are valued at $1000 and $2500 respectively. It is important to note that a student can receive only one of these awards in a year.

Those who eventually qualify for either scholarship will receive a cheque from Alberta Student Aid. To this end, your social insurance number must be included in your application to help the Government process your benefits

2. University of Alberta scholarships?

The ideal candidate should meet these requirements:

  • Have at least a 3.2 GPA between September to April of the previous year at a recognized Alberta post-secondary institution
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Should be enrolled in a full-time program for a term by the next academic session
  • Must have finished 80% of a normal course load (minimum of 24 units of course weight) between September and April of the previous academic year from a recognized Alberta post-secondary institution
  • Must be an Alberta resident in line with the Alberta Scholarship Act
  • Parents or guardians must have lived in Canada for 12 consecutive months before starting post-secondary studies
  • May be married to an Alberta resident before enrollment in post-secondary education

How to apply

  • Start your application process by registering on the university website.
  • To register, you need your CCID and password. At this stage, you can relay all questions to the student service center.

The strongest applications for the Jason Lang scholarship will be awarded the Louise Mckinney scholarship, while the less competitive applications may be considered for the Jason Lang option.
