Eligibility to Apply for Undergraduate Vice Chancellor's Scholarships
- You must have received an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree beginning in September 2024 at the University of Westminster.
- Your household income must be £25,000 or less, as determined by the assessment conducted by the Student Loans Company.
- Individuals with an Honours degree are ineligible to apply.
Criteria to Apply for Undergraduate Vice Chancellor's Scholarships
- Selection criteria include financial need and the content of your personal statement.
- All applicants must belong to a Black or Mixed Black ethnic background. Alternative scholarship opportunities are available for those who do not meet this criteria.
Terms & Conditions to Apply for Undergraduate Vice Chancellor's Scholarships
- Hold an offer for enrollment in a full-time undergraduate degree program for the current academic year.
- Designated as a Home student for fee assessment purposes.
- This opportunity is exclusively available to new applicants; current University of Westminster students are not eligible to apply.
- Have not yet attained a degree.
- Have submitted an application for the highest level of student support available from the Student Loans Company (SLC), encompassing the maintenance loan, with a household income not exceeding £25,000 as evaluated by the SLC.
- Students are required to provide consent for the disclosure of their household income information to the University of Westminster. All necessary documentation for a household income assessment must be furnished to the Student Loans Company (SLC) by July 31st, prior to the commencement of the course. This is to enable the University to verify your eligibility for any scholarships you have been provisionally granted.
- Students can only receive one scholarship from the University of Westminster. Should a student be offered a scholarship they will no longer be eligible for the Westminster Bursary, they could however be eligible for other bursaries or awards and can also receive external scholarships.
- Undergraduate scholarships are granted for a maximum duration of three years and will be disbursed in January of each academic year via BACS into the student's designated bank account. Alternatively, if the student opts to allocate the scholarship towards tuition fees, the payment will be made directly to the University in November of each year. Students must maintain eligibility to receive the scholarship throughout each consecutive academic year and fulfill all annual progression requirements.
- Throughout each year of the scholarship, you will need to participate in one career development session. Further information regarding these sessions will be provided following your enrollment. Failure to fulfill these session requirements will lead to the suspension of your scholarship.
- The scholarship will not be disbursed during repeat academic years, periods of suspension, placement years, or study abroad years. In the event of significant academic challenges (such as failing a module or submitting mitigating circumstances), it is imperative to promptly notify the Scholarships Office. Scholars who do not advance to the next academic level will have their scholarship suspended for one year, permitting them to fulfill modules and advance in their studies. This opportunity will be provided only once during the course of your degree.
- Should an awardee opt to switch programs, they may retain the scholarship, provided that the new course and mode of study adhere to the eligibility criteria. Prior approval from the Scholarships Office is mandatory for all changes.
- Scholarships are not transferable to subsequent academic years. Should you opt to defer your course entry, you must submit a new scholarship application for the intended academic year.
- Decisions are rendered by the scholarship panel and are conclusive. Applications submitted after the stipulated deadline will not be reviewed. Notification of the outcome will be sent to all applicants within three weeks following the deadline. Kindly note that individual feedback cannot be provided.
- Scholarship recipients are anticipated to engage in University promotional endeavors, attend University events, and participate in the annual scholarship reception.
